Cambodia
Torn apart by genocide in the 80's under the Pol Pot regime, Cambodia has made a wonderful recovery. It has the iconic ruins of Angkor, rice paddies, forests and a tropical coastline. Phnom Penh has changed rapidly since my first trip in 1992 and not all for the good. Chinese development seems to have re-shaped the nature of Asia. Nonetheless it is still a gem.
